I worked the pridefest booth in Denver this weekend and, despite a lot of disappointment at Kerry's stand on Gay Marriage, the joint was jumping.
There were actually three seperate Democratic booths and at least one candidate as well (Mike Miles). Kerry's joint was jumping and we gave out thousands of stickers (about 4,000 when I had to leave), collected thousands of signatures and registered a couple of dozen voters.
It is important to remember that the enthusiasm was much more directed AGAINST GW than it was for John.
The volunteer response wasn't great either. About 20 people said they would volunteer, but none of the people whose names were sent by the DNC showed up.
Again, the activity was absolutely frantic and there were very few negative comments.
The response to the Miles campaign, from what I could tell, was not as charged. There were a lot of volunteers, maybe too many crowded around the booth.
I wish I could have gotten around to see if the LCR were there and I didn't get to check out the Stonewall Dems, but like I said, it was just crazy at the Kerry tent and, unfortunately, I had to leave early.
