Grand County retiree Chuck Doughdrill is one of many Democrats miffed by the party's handling of Miles' candidacy and Salazar's recent support nominating Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
"Salazar has not been much of a Democrat," Doughdrill said.
As some political experts tell it, such disappointment both with state Democrats and recent presidential losses have prodded liberal activists "toward jihad."
"They figure ... if we're going to lose with people who are constantly trimming and equivocating and trying to present as milquetoast, then we might as well lose with people who make our hearts go pitter-patter," said Denver political consultant Eric Sondermann.
"About half the people on the committee were stunned because it was so close," said former Democratic state Rep. Peggy Lamm, who is considering a run for Republican Bob Beauprez's seat in the 7th Congressional District. "Chris had a lot of good credibility in terms of what happened with the party last year. Obviously, people were looking for a different kind of energy and direction."

Now if Connecticut can do the same with Joe.
I suggest that Penn Dem State Party and the Rhode Island State Pary take note before they force "selected" right-wing candidates on their states Democratic base.
