Well, not exactly hate mail. A more accurate desciption would be "gloat mail".
More after the break.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch did publish my LTTE (see my previous diary) (the link has expired, now). They disappointingly removed my numbers (about the number of Repubs in Congress who are White Christans) and replaced them with the vague word, "most", but left the rest reasonably intact. I'm 2-for-2 on getting letters printed, now (the first was in my pre-Kossack days about the problems with electronic voting machines).
So yesterday I get a little letter addressed to me (using a Reagan stamp, too). In it was a single 8-1/2 x 11 sheet with a crying baby picture and "THREE AND 1/2 MORE YEARS" and a little bit of other stuff I don't care to even remember. Of course the coward didn't put a return address on the letter, so I give this the amount of credit it deserves.
Since I've never been an activist before (yes, GWB has turned me into an activist), I'm not used to this. I'm not really worried, yet, and I can only imagine the letters that some of the louder activists get. But still, I wonder about the mindset of someone who would look up someone on the phone book and send an anonymous letter, just because I expressed an opinion.
At least now I've graduated to Gandhi's step 2 - First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win.
They are getting worried.
