Last night was my first vigil, my first protest, my first bodily representation of my beliefs.
It was incredible.
I live in a small(ish) suburb of Boulder Colorado... Longmont. My friends call it Longtucky... you get the idea.
There were, by my GUESS, between 70-80 people there, and another group three blocks up the street from us.
Everyone with candles, most with signs. Everyone was quiet, respectful...chatting amongst ourselves.
For every 10 cars that passed, at LEAST one honked in support. I only heard two disparaging remarks, and could really only make out one.
Lots of pictures were taken, so I hope someone posts them soon.
And the whole time, I just couldn't whipe the grin off my face. It felt so good. It felt like we were standing in Crawford, next to Cindy.
We were the leading story on all local 10pm newscasts, and while I didn't see it on The Today Show, Good Morning America lead with the story, and the bi-line "Is the Anti-War Movement gaining support?"
YES.
