I sent an angry email to Frank Wilson regarding the book review he wrote. Lo and behold, I got an email back a few hours letter. Read it below the fold.
I have to admit, it's a solid response. He obviously read my letter and responded to each point, one by one. I can't forgive the article, but I felt that his response was anything but elitist. He was understanding, if nothing else. I must give credit where credit is due.
Hi Dan,
Thanks for getting in touch. According to Site Meter, which is the source I used, InstaPundit gets 333, 543 visits a day and Kos gets 267,202. I realize there are different ways of gauging this and that there are other figures out there. Which is why I also mentioned that Kos gets 1.6 million visitors a month. So I don't think I short-changed his popularity to any great extent.
As for not responding to criticism, I try to answer all of my critics, actually, and since I'm starting to blog later this week on The Inquirer's Web site, I should be able to do even more of that and in a more public way. I certainly am dismayed to hear that I sounded elitist. I was hoping people would be inspired to read blogs and read Hewitt's book -- which, even if you don't share his point of view, does give a pretty good overview of the subject and does offer some sound hints on how to go about blogging yourself. What you say about the MSM, of course, is exactly why I think blogs are important. I think we'll all be better off the more the information world is opened up to all of us.
Please stay in touch and feel free to take me to task whenever.
My best,
Frank
