The other night, one of our state's(Minnesota) DNC members came by our Senate District meeting to solicit comments.
She mentioned a few interesting things...
First off, she gave some feedback of their trip to St. Louis where they met the DNC chair candidates. From that she said two of them were basically off the table as far as they(our state) were concerned.
The first was Leland... "nice guy, but Ohio was a bigger mess than people even realize"
The second was Roehmer... "He's angry and mean"
They were highly impressed with the intelligence and thoughtfulness of Rosenberg, Dean, Frost, Fowler though. She said Rosenberg was the brightest guy she's met, and has proved his ability to organize and deliver... but he's kind of a monotone boring speaker.
But she mentioned something, she said a long time ago(not sure how long ago that is), the DNC used to have a dual chairmanship. That is, sort of a President and an Operating Officer.
The President would go all over the country, talking to people, giving speeches, rallying people and finding out what they wanted, etc.
The OO would sit back at the DNC office making sure stuff was getting done.
I think this makes good solid sense, and I could see a Dean/Rosenberg pair in this type of format. With Dean doing the meet and greets, and Rosenberg doing the nuts and bolts and followup. It seems to fit each persons natural ability.
Anyway, she said several other states were favorable to amending the charter for this as well. I'd like to see others ask their DNC chairs to push for this.
