I was going to respond to TeacherKen but by the time I got to the bottom of the comments I was so dismayed I didn't have the heart to add another one. We lose because our candidates and our positions, and our arguments suck. Armando and Kos keep saying they want to win. Let's do it.
If we want to win, there are three things we need to understand. Rinse and repeat. Or just keep losing.
- We lost the Iraq war the day Gen. Shinseki was ridiculed. We needed and need 300,000 troops. This means the only way to save our country is to put lots MORE troops into Iraq. Not stay the fucking course. Not get out now and produce Afghanistan-style chaos on a huge scale. Democrats must make the argument for strength. We can only win the war in Iraq if we win the war in Iraq.
- Kerry lost the election the day he knuckled under and voted to gut the constitution and give the president the right to wage war, any war, on his own volition. Nobody wants Bush-lite, especially the voters. This goes for Hillary, Biden, Joementum, and the Breck girl. Forget these people and don't let them have a chance in 2008.
- Leaders are people who have led. Not proposed stuff. Not produced lists of policy proposals. Led. Not career legislators. Not career first ladies. It means a governor or a general. Give me Clark, Dean, or Warner and I'll show you a Democratic president.
- We are the conservatives. Balanced budgets, jobs, restricted growth of government, and the use of the military only for the defense of the nation are THE bedrock conservative positions. We should never let a Republican who has not renounced Bush claim he is a conservative. Never. My ban on legislators will end the day one proposes that saying Bush and Conservative in the same sentence is a new federal crime.
