Shhh...
Don't tell anyone, but for Democrats being the minority party; we are kicking ass...
Be sure to keep it a secret though, only click on "There's more" if you are a Liberal/Progressive/Democrat.
No Republicans allowed...
I was listening to the radio this morning and noted
this story; WASHINGTON (AP) -- House leaders late Wednesday abandoned an attempt to push through a hotly contested plan to open an Alaskan wildlife refuge to oil drilling, fearing it would jeopardize approval of a sweeping budget bill Thursday.
They also dropped from the budget document plans to allow states to authorize oil and gas drilling off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts -- regions currently under a drilling moratorium.
Wow. Drilling in ANWR has been a wet dream of big oil for the last 60 years, and they thought is was going to come to fruition with a Republican controlled government. Nope, nada, they got slapped like the bitches they are.
Oh and there is this;
The strong man of California politics is looking awfully weak.
California voters Tuesday rejected all four government overhaul measures that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger had put on the ballot, a resounding defeat for the Republican in his bold attempt to go over lawmakers' heads and take his agenda straight to the people.
The setback comes at the same time the former action hero is gearing up for a re-election bid in 2006.
Everything that the Govenator put forward was rejected by the voters of the great state of California, everything. Not only did the voters reject all of his indicatives they made him (the GOP poster boy) look like a fool for wasting millions of dollars on the ballot measures. So much for '06, huh Arnie?
And what about that President with a mandate;
George W. Bush's approval ratings for handling his job, Iraq, terrorism and the economy are all at career-lows. Sixty percent of Americans disapprove of his work in office overall, a level of discontent unseen since recession chased his father from office.
Jesus. If you would have been listening to Sean Hannity on November 3rd of 2004 you would have thought that this guy was the greatest thing to ever happen to the Presidential Office. Guess not. Not only did ole' Georgie fail in school, business, in the National Guard and in life. He is a failure when it comes to leading this country. But hey, we already knew that.
I know everyone was shitting their pants when the Democrats lost control over the Senate and the House, and we were really shitting our pants when we lost Gore as the 43rd President of the United States but damn, we are doing good.
Now I know that everyone here isn't happy with all of what is going on; and some aren't happy with our congressman, but we do have to give them kudos for what they have done with so little.
Some more;
- Vice Presidents Chief of Staff indicted.
- President's top political advisor is still under investigation relating to above indictment.
- Majority House Leader has been forced to step down and headed to trail.
- Majority Senate Leader is under investigation for fraud.
- Social Security; yeah, we did kick their asses on that one.
- Democrats have forced an investigation into the intelligence that was used in the run up to this war.
- Did I mention we really kicked some ass on Tuesday? Democrats took back a lot, from School Board seats to Governorships.
- Hell even the people in Idaho rejected religious fundamentalism; now that my friends is saying something.
...
I could go on and on as I am sure you all know, but we need to keep our noses to the grindstone, we need to stay focused and stay on message and stay on point.
We have then running; they are starting to eat themselves, a most glorious implosion if I have ever seen one.
We need to take back the school boards, we need to take back the city councils, we need to take back the state
governments, and we need to take congress back. I have no fears that we won't do just that in 2006.
Oh, and in 2008, yeah, that's going to be ours too...
