Well, well...it seems that GOP self-delusion is now reaching new heights. Perhaps unable to deal with the cognitive dissonance created by the rapidly-accelerating disintegration of BushCo's "1984"-like facade, John "Assrocket" Hinderaker has charged into the breach with Frist and Hastert, demanding an investigation into the leak regarding the existence of secret U.S. prisons in Eastern Europe. The best (but unfortunately unsurprising) part is that Assrocket's shrill and disingenuous demands for justice
a la PlameTreasongate is that he is apparently blissfully unaware of reality.
When Fristie and Hastert first made their demand for an investigation,
Assrocket was right behind them, noting
I like the precedent established by the Plame investigation. I think that CIA leaks of classified information should be investigated, and the leakers should be prosecuted. I want the Post and Times reporters who wrote these stories subpoenaed and questioned about their sources. If they won't answer, they should go to jail. The leakers can be caught, and when caught, they should be prosecuted.
Which was interesting to me, because the paragraph nowhere makes any mention of a blowjob. Of course, I assumed the wind might have been taken out of Assrocket's prosecutorial sail when former (and future) Majority Minority Leader Trent Lott mentioned that the leak most likely came from a Republican Senator and his or her staff. After all, the GOP Congress is rather loathe to investigate Republican malfeasance, saving its oversight for important matters, like 10-year-old affairs.
Imagine my shock when I looked today, only to find thatAssrocket observing the CIA's investigation into the leak with glee. Shocked, I read on, finding Assrocket's money shot at the end:
It would be a great thing if the steady stream of illegal anti-administration leaks out of the CIA and the State Department could be shut down, and some of the Democrat leakers imprisoned. It's time to put the Plame farce to a good use.
So, here we have it: faced with the apparent fact that the leak came from a Republican Senator, Assrocket demands a CIA investigation limited to anti-administration leaks by Democrat leakers in the State Department. High comedy, to be sure. After all, I'm sure State, like the rest of the "administration" is just chock-full of wild-eyed liberals leaking like a sieve. The last 5 years have been notorious for the amount of information leaking out of the executive branch.
And that observation doesn't even get to the core of the problem, which is Frist's, Hastert's, and Assrocket's foamy-mouthed anger over the leak, but not over secret torture prisons in Eastern Europe. Probably because, like photos from Abu Ghraib, knowledge that the U.S. is blatantly violating the Geneva Conventions, fundamental international law, and basic principles of morality agreed upon by every sane and rational person across the world might be "bad for the global war on terror."
Truly amazing. Not that it hadn't already happened, but Assrocket's call for a putch of State Department Dems is the clearest indication yet that he is a hack, a moron, and a puppet unfit to participate in civilized discourse.
