I was just channel-surfing through the "news" networks and caught a snippet of some blowhard on Fox demanding that everyone cancel their subscriptions to Newsweek. I didn't catch his name, but he immediately made me think of Kos' post some weeks ago declaring he was canceling his subscription to Time.
And, it made me think: are we always reacting to them, or is it the other way around?
I think of how last xmas I was boycotting Wal-Mart (no big deal on my part, there isn't one anywhere near me, can you believe it?), and my republican sister-in-law was boycotting Target because they weren't going to exempt Salvation Army from their no solicitation policy - I thought, wow, we live in a parallel universe. I have my boycott, you have yours. Now I have my news magazine, you have yours. Lines being drawn all over the place (although actually, I never read Newsweek or Time except in the occasional doctor's office).
But I suspect that even though it seems we're always reacting to them, they're probably watching us a lot more than we realize.
Has anyone else ever noticed that when we're trying to accomplish something, they're all of a sudden tackling the same issue? Or venue, or forum, or retailer, or whatever? Am I officially paranoid, or are we being watched?
