The Houston Chronicle is reporting in today's edition that Scott McClellan's mother, Carol Keaton [McClellan, Rylander] Strayhorn is expected to announce her plans to run for Governor of Texas. That will likely put her in a three-way race with the current Governor, Rick Perry, and Senator Kay Baily Hutchinson.
Strayhorn will make her announcement Satruday at a midday outdoor rally near the state Capitol.
This raises an interesting question. How soon will Scotty use this as an opportunity to get out of the hot box at the White House and run home to Texas to help his mommy beat his current boss's successor?

AUSTIN - Carole Keeton Strayhorn, the feisty state comptroller who has been openly feuding with Gov. Rick Perry for more than two years, is expected to announce Saturday that she will challenge Perry in next year's Republican primary.
Her anticipated announcement would set up the possibility of a three-way GOP gubernatorial race because U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison also is weighing a challenge to Perry.
Hutchison, whose Senate seat is up for election next year, will announce her plans next month.

Previous polls indicated that in a three-way race Strayhorn will probably finish third behind Perry and Hutchinson.
Strayhorn lost some name identification when she got married two years ago and changed her name from Rylander, the name with which she had won four statewide races.
In a three-way race, however, Strayhorn could hurt Hutchison's chances of unseating the governor, said Austin political consultant Bill Miller, particularly if the campaign becomes as hard-fought as anticipated.

One lobbyist, who asked not to be identified, said he suspected Strayhorn, by announcing first, is trying to discourage Hutchison from entering the race.

A Scripps Howard Texas Poll published last month showed that Perry's job-approval rating among all Texans had slipped to 45 percent, while Hutchison's was 67 percent.
Strayhorn received a 51 percent positive rating, but 37 percent of the survey's respondents didn't recognize her name or know enough about her to offer an opinion.

After watching McClellan's dissembling performance during today's White House Press Briefing, seeing him run home to Mommy would be a wonderful sight.
