The Emminent Domain issue will be the biggest wedge the Republicans will use in the run up to the 06 Congressional Elections.
It fits perfectly with Norquist's "Leave Us Alone" coalition's agenda issue of Privacy Rights, opposition to zoning rights Ect...
At the same time, it is a perfect prelude to vacant Supreme Court seats coming up. The liberal oppointed judges voted for Emminent Domain, giving Corporations the right to join with a city councel to evict PEOPLE off their hot real estate at a "fair" price. This is what we will hear from the righties.
For the Republicans, they will point to Emminent Domain to lobby their Extremest nominee into a Supreme court vacancy, but more importantly they will repeat "private property is being assalted by liberals" throughout the 06 election season to distract from Iraq.
More below the fold
The only thing that might hold the righties from using Emminent Domain is Big Business.Corporations have been lobbying for Emminent Domain for years.
Big Ed Schultz was all over this today, saying the republicans will be using small, simple issues such as flag burning and private property in red counties and states.
I agree with Ed, and the Well Oiled Machine has already started on Emminent Domain.
At 3:20 on Brit Hume's program, they reviewed the ruling, being very specific that the viewer was awair that it was liberal judges that voted "against private property rights." Let the Spinning begin.
Oh ya, and the young "reporter" said the new Supreme Court ruling "clearly hit a nerve." Then, Fox immediately cut to a story about possible supreme court seat openings.
It is as transparant as it gets, but how do we stop it and have our agenda heard:
Privacy rights, Veterins Wellfare and training Iraqi Soldiers so we can avoid a 12 year quagmire, as Rumsfeld pointed out is possible.
