The current front page of the NY Times offers a story protraying Democrats as a bunch of whining soon-to-be
losers and an editorial lamenting what our founding fathers meant in establishing our constitution (re: Miller/Plame)....
She is surrendering her liberty in defense of a greater liberty, granted to a free press by the founding fathers so journalists can work on behalf of the public without fear of regulation or retaliation from any branch of government.
follow me to the flip here briefly for a quick rant to the latter....
.....NO jackasses the founding fathers did not intend for a reporter to somehow be held to a different/elevated standard than any other witness to a crime. Anyone looking for proof to this should only turn to the fact that the SUPREME COURT decided as such! If we cannot turn to our highest justices for clues as to how our founding fathers would've spoken, how on earth can we look to the editorial board of the New York Times?
What is going on here?
Folks, we should all be following The Daily Howler, which many of us know to be Bob Somerby's wonderful daily diatrabe against the joke that our public discourse has become. But, friends, we as the minority voice in this country have to understand sometimes that why we may vilify those on the right for the plight of our nation, we have to also lay scrutiny on the messengers for the way that the nation is continually misled by a Press we our taught from Day 1 to believe.
It is a joke through and through.
As vigilant as we have become v. the right in the country, we must also keep our sights on the SCLM and never take solace in the idea that papers such as the NYT or WAPO are ever completely on the side of truth & honestly.
Someone is seemingly always in a position to gain from the lies we see, and are asked to digest every day.
