Bush's low ratings just prove how popular he is. Americans hate war and this is reflected in recent polls, but Americans hate injustice even more. There is no popular choice between two terrible alternatives, protracted war or international terror, and the low ratings reflect this. The polls therefore represent frustration with a difficult situation, not with the President and his policies. In fact, these numbers represent the last stand of a desperate press, out to destroy the President by disregarding all of the achievements of this administration.
Certainly, we have lost too many brave men and women in the fight for freedom. No one likes that, but to pull out now would mean almost 2000 American soldiers would have died for nothing. Yes, we all would have liked to have found weapons of mass destruction; eliminated terror; or even replaced a dictatorship with a real democracy. Then the President would know just what to tell those gold-star moms and everyone could come on home. But instead of just waiting for a halfway decent result to emerge, the press wants to set up some silly meeting where everyone feels embarrassed. The press wants Americans to feel bad about America.
The press refuses to consider all that the President has accomplished. Consider the lives of the unborn children safe in freezers and away from the torture labs of stem cell researchers. Consider the freedom you enjoy in your SUV or proud 4x4 pick-up. The press hates children. They hate four wheel drive. They hate our freedom and they spread lies because they are desperate. But real Americans know the truth, and that truth proves that George Bush is by far the most popular president in the last four and half years, and he always will be.
