WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush hinted on Monday that his next nominee for the Supreme Court would be a woman or a minority, saying that ``diversity is one of the strengths of the country.

Bush, asked about his next nominee, said ``I will pick a person who can do the job. But
I am mindful that diversity is one of the strengths of the country.'' The president is under pressure from many quarters - including his wife - to pick a woman or a minority for the seat of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who is retiring.
