I apologize in advance if this has already been posted today, but I didn't want this to go Totally unmentioned.
Yesterday (Friday), Kyra Phillips reported on the WaPo-Howell blog situation. What was fascinating about it was how she framed it. I'm paraphrasing here, but she said "posters were upset because Howell noted Abramoff donated money to both Republicans and Democrats, although most of the money was donated to Republicans."
That's it...that was the end of the story! Posters (read: liberals) were upset about the entire WaPo/Howell situation: because Howell didn't note that most of the money went to Republicans. Kyra didn't differentiate as to the donations or any info about them -- no, the idea that Abramoff contributed to Dems and Repubs was taken as fact -- supposedly our problem with WaPo was only about them not noting that Republicans took even more money than Dems. What?
This may not seem like a big deal to people, but this is the little under-handed, paradigm shifting, fact distorting drivel that gets pumped out of places like CNN on a daily basis, show by effing show. Shift the structure of the argument ever so slightly and you can make the lefties seem like nutjobs. And of course given her track record, I'm not surprised at all.
