I love to see so much of the progressive blogosphere piling on Fred Hiatt's hackery, and hope that people are taking the time to contact his hackarific employer. Here's why:
Raw Story and
Wonkette are both reporting that the
Washington Post plans to hire
two bloggers to replace serial plagarist Ben Domenech. One conservative, one liberal. Here's what Raw Story has to say:
The paper's ombudsman, Deborah Howell, has informed RAW STORY that Jim Brady, executive editor of washingtonpost.com, is looking for a liberal blogger, along with a conservative one, to replace Ben Domenech who resigned after only three days of blogging, when his earlier writings were discovered by mostly liberal bloggers to be racially insensitive and - in multiple cases - plagiarized.
The paper doesn't plan on making any formal announcement, but the news should be welcome to many critics on the left who felt that it was unfair to hire just a conservative blogger in the first place.
So let's chronicle the chain of events here:
- Radical right-wing nutjobs blast the WaPo with complaints over blogger/journalist Dan Froomkin. It seems that Mr. Froomkin is telling the truth about President Bush, something that makes him a "liberal."
- WaPo.com Executive Editor Jim Brady, sick of being harassed by idiot conservatives, caves to their demands and hires a right-wing nutjob, Ben Domenech.
- Progressive bloggers begin their own harassment campaign. One demand is: if WaPo hires an overtly partisan Republican, must also hire an overtly partisan Democrat.
- Domenech is fired
- WaPo tells Raw Story that it is caving to progressive bloggers' demands
Ladies and gentlemen, pressure works. Harassment campaigns work. When we make life difficult for bad journalists, bad journalists make life easier for us.
