Yesterday, Tony Snow at the White House press briefing got into it with David Gregory. At one point, Snow said:
MR. SNOW: No, I'm doing it to you because the second part was factually tendentious, okay? Now, when you were talking about the fact that it failed to adapt, that's just flat wrong. And you will be -- there has been -- there have been repeated attempts to try to adapt to military realities, to diplomatic realities, to development of new weapons and tools on the part of al Qaeda, including the very creative use of the Internet. So the idea that somehow we're staying the course is just wrong. It is absolutely wrong.

What happened here? I thought we were staying the course. I was sure that Bush said we were staying the course.
He said it in 2003:
WASHINGTON, July 10, 2003 - The United States "will stay the course" in Iraq, President Bush said today in Gaberone, Botswana, following a meeting with President Festus Gontebanye Mogae

He said it last Thursday:
President Bush began a new drive today to rally the American people behind him on the Iraq war and national security, declaring that the United States must stay the course in Iraq because it is a battleground in an epic struggle between democracy and tyranny.

He has said it over and over. [http://thinkprogress.org/...]
Did I miss the announcement that we aren't staying the course any more? Or did Tony Snow make a stealth announcement? Shouldn't the President tell us himself if he has decided to Unstay the Course? How can you trust anyone in this administration if they suddenly Change the Course? Does that make them appeasers? Cut and Runners? Neo-conmen?
I am so confused.
