Well, as we speak, the two top "stories" that are being covered on Anderson Cooper 360 are the remarks made by New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Hillary Clinton.
In Cooper's words, he's "keeping them honest"
Whatever...
If Mr. Cooper was really about "keeping them honest", he would be investigating the Bush Administration with regards to illegal wiretapping, the lies about the war in Iraq, the out-of-control deficit, the Medicare giveaway to the pharmaceutical industry, and other egregious offenses too numerous to mention.
If Mr. Cooper was really about "keeping them honest", he would be investigating the Republican Congress with regards to indictments, corruption, a lack of oversight, intimidation (see Tom Delay), and pork-barrel spending - plus other numerous offenses.
If Mr. Cooper was really about "keeping them honest", he would have exposed the Swift Boat Liars for whom they are: Liars.
But hey, when your biggest claim to fame is being Gloria Vanderbilt's son, what credibility does the claim "keeping them honest" really have.
At the end of the day, Anderson Cooper, the face of CNN, is basically a journalistic bimbo. When you have your job solely because of your looks and not your talent, it is hard for me to look at it any other way.
Of course, Cooper is not alone in the land of cable news - just the most prominent example.
"Keeping them honest?" It's hard to do so when you are a fake with no substance, like Anderson Cooper.
I keep reminding myself that I once respected and watched CNN. This is obviously no longer true.
