Senator Kerry's diary - well, the comments really - it occurred to me that the free lesson given to us by
Peter Daou may have been lost on us. We most certainly must have forgotten the mudslinging and any lessons that may have occurred when the "my issue first" 'discussions' were being held on this site.
It had to have been lost. The yabbuts came out in full force; "yabbut - the VOTES!", "yabbut - [insert gripe here]". I know people want their concerns voiced. I fully realize this. We were shown some things in the past couple of weeks that we haven't figured out how to work in our favor.
We scream "FOREST FOR THE TREES" when the other side can't seem to be able to connect all the dots and see the sum of the damage that this Culturally Corrupt Republican agenda has done to this country. We yell for our elected Democrat leaders to listen to us and to "DO SOMETHING!".
We are right to do so.
We have a chance here to see exactly where we're at when given the chance at Triangulation.
If Senator Kerry is reaching out now, it really doesn't surprise me. In a sense he's doing what we've asked. In a sense he's learned the lessons of the Dean campaign and the power of the netroots. If he does in fact read blogs, why wouldn't he read MyDD and read the conclusion
Chris Bowers came to when looking at the make-up of who we are? Especially when the post is entitled
Why The Blogosphere and the Netroots Do Not Like Hillary Clinton -> And gives some info on the liberal communities where his possible running opponent is concerned.
And while it may seemingly help his campaign, the focus should be on what can we do working together - with no bribes or corruption to be our driving force. Because it
matters to this country.
So what can we do to help Kerry get this out? "Hard Ball" is a good starting name, but something along those lines needs to have a label for topics that require a long hard look at the facts compared to what's being said. Something that sticks in the minds of people. It's not just because Chris Matthews is a conservative appologist and openly loathes the liberal perspective and anyone who believes in them (except when they get their token appearance on his show... and questionable then) and I don't want to give him any credit, but "Hard Ball" is also registered, copywrited, etc. and using that name would lose the full impact of its meaning.
What else? Can we make enough noise in the right ways to get this in front of the media? For them to bring it up? For them to bring Senator Kerry and other Senators on to push this? They'd have to be confident, articulate and not let some right wing shill squalking all over the top with innane misinformation. Sizzle the Beard like Dean did.
The Senator knows who we are. He knows that we're activists that make better (on average) than the median family income in this country. He knows we're the ones that are funding campaigns and polls and doing the things it takes. And doing it on our own for the most part.
In order to start to get to where Daou showed us, we need another piece of the Triangle before we can get the third. We're not going get both at once. We've only 2 sides and have fight for the 3rd. It's time for those 2 sides to join and get that 3rd. If not by that which is already there, to show enough support that something new gets created for an already hungry for it viewership.
One thing I do know, Senator (if you're reading this), is that we'll only work with you as long as we agree. We're not for sale and we're more than one issue. We're for America.
