They fall, yes, the mighty fall. Remember Tom DeLay's
"I am the government!? He gone now. Cunningham, he gone now. Ney, out. Foley, um, out. Hastert, pinned. Next up, Doolittle?
When I think of Congressman John Doolittle, the Dishonest John character from the old Beany and Cecil cartoons always comes to mind. ("DJ, you dirty guy!") In our last episode, DJ's required FEC filings were nowhere to be seen. That was Saturday. Now some filings are available, though not under the link everyone else seems to use.
What they show is, John Doolittle seems to be lawyering up.

According to the Washington Post, Doolittle's relationship with Jack Abramoff is indeed under investigation by Justice:
A federal task force that includes a dozen Justice Department prosecutors is investigating Abramoff's dealings with other congressional offices, including those of Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.) and Rep. John T. Doolittle (R-Calif.), according to lawyers and witnesses involved in the probe.
And
blogswarm at the Daily Muck posted:
Despite Doolittle's denials, Justice targeting Doolittle appears to be corroborated by Federal Election Commission filings posted online on Sunday that show Doolittle paid Williams Mullen, a Virginia criminal defense law firm, $38,378 over the last few months. Earlier in the year, Doolittle paid the firm a $10,000 retainer.
On Thursday, a 2000 email written by Kevin Ring, an Abramoff lobbyist and Doolittle's former Chief of Staff, was released saying Doolittle was "very very excited and appreciative" of the prospect of Julie Doolittle, the congressman's wife, working for Jack Abramoff.
Ultimately, Julie Doolittle worked for Abramoff at Greenberg Traurig.
Is this an example of a Julie Doolittle payday?

Of course, six grand is nothing compared to the $90,000 Doolittle's
poor wife Julie is apparently raked in on one day for President's Bush's campaign appearance a few weeks ago. [btw: does it fry anyone else's bacon that the taxpayers paid for Bush to do this?]
Are you listening to the YouTube ditty? Does John Doolittle sound a little too self-righteous and sorry for himself at the same time? Have you had enough?
Are you ready to give, and give again Blue America page for Charlie Brown to throw the rascals out?

PS: Just a little snark, the Bank of America branch used by the Doolittle campaign in Sacramento is on K Street!
