yes, I re-used the diary title & theme. I'm a little tired.
So it's the night before the election & you're wondering what you can do to help out. Well, here's how everybody can help get Democrats elected in Texas. Go to this website:
http://dev.trueblueaction.com/...
sign in, and get a phone list. It's easy - they even give you a script. You can pick any candidate in Texas to call for, it's easy,(relatively) painless, and it needs doing.
We have some truly great candidates in Texas. Chris Bell is within reach of the governor's mansion, and if we raise the turnout, he can get there. Maria Luisa Alvarado is a great nominee for Lt Gov - and voters in the Valley are really excited about her. David Van Os (think Jim Hightower, but taller) should be the next Attorney General - if we can get the word out about how great he is and what a sleaziod the current A.G. is. John Courage and Ted Ankrum can both snatch seats out from idiotic Republicans. You can call for great local candidates like Valinda Bolton, who is running for State Rep in Travis County - finally making our delegation all Democrats again. Or to re-elect Mark Strama, who has been a great rep & needs to go back to keep doing a great job. You can call for Charlie Baird, running for District Judge & a really terrific guy, or for Susan Steeg, running for Justice of the Peace. We have a whole bunch of fabulous people running for the Court of Appeals (Bree Buchanan, Jim Coronado, Mina Brees, Diane Henson, to name a few -- they're not running against each other, there are several seats). I know them - they're great people.
Anyway, long story short (relatively short) -- YOU can help turn the tide in Texas. Only got a half hour? So, make a half-hour's worth of calls. Don't live in Texas? What are you using those unlimited calling minutes for, anyway?
Please log in to http://dev.trueblueaction.com/... and help turn Texas blue!
I said in a comment earlier today that Travis County provided the margin for Ann when she won. One little blue dot in a sea of red. You can turn that dot bluer, or do the same for the blue dots in the Valley, or make some of the red purple. You. You can make a difference. Making phone calls isn't my favorite thing to do either, but I'm begging you. Starting at 9am tomorrow, please please please make some calls.
