Anybody want to discuss/celebrate/bemoan PA results?
First, my cheering: I am ecstatic that Santorum and Crazy Curt Weldon lost by such convincing margins. We were part of the wave, and those were a couple of races that were on the national radar screen.
When I woke up this morning and checked in with The Inquirer, I saw not only those two but also (I thought) a victory by Lois Murphy in the 6th district, and by Brian Lentz over Tom Gannon in a local race that was important to me (State House District 161).
Unfortunately Lois lost as the last few votes trickled in. The Lentz-Gannon race is still a nail biter. I'm anxiously awaiting the final result.
There is a lot to cheer for of course. I mentioned in a diary yesterday that I had a very encouraging conversation with Dem party volunteers on the state of the Delco Democratic Party. This is only the beginning, and we're going to see more gains as the Delco party becomes an actual functioning organization.
Along those lines I found a graphic this morning on the Inky's site, which I can't find now. PA residents probably know that historically the state divides into a very red T-shape, with two small blue blobs in the southern corners around Philly and Pittsburgh. Well, in the map I saw this morning, the T is gone. Lovely big blue swaths across the state.
How did the races you were watching in PA come out?
