As promised and previously discussed here and here, the Daily Kos community has pulled together and mailed my husband's Army medical unit approximately 50 care packages! Flip this page to find out more...
Many of you looking forward to this update already know that my husband is assigned to FOB Falcon's aid station. He's trying to get Thank-You cards and letters out to everyone who has mailed packages, letters, cards, and words of support and encouragement. Mail service (thank you Halliburton) is sporadic where he is, so it may take a few weeks for correspondence to get back to the states.
He was able to update his Anysoldier account this morning to say thank you to everyone, and ask for womens' underwear. In a normal marriage, a wife would be kind of upset when her husband asks for underwear for other women, but I think he gets a pass this time. :)
For any newcomers that want to send mail to his unit, he's registered on Anysoldier.com as CPT Matthew Larson, and his updated page appears on the December 26th list of names.
He's sent me a few pictures of himself, his unit, and some of his patients with your packages. I'm only posting a picture of him (at left) and the SGT that helps him treat the Physical Therapy patients, because I don't have specific permission from the other soldiers to use their pictures on the internet. His clinic is about 9' X 12' and, yes, it's made out of plywood:
Thank you all for supporting this unit. You've also helped keep him busy sorting the packages, organizing the goodie bins, and finding soldiers who need mail and a morale boost.
Again, I'm going to beg for recommends so that everyone who has sent mail in support of my previous diary, can read this update and know that they made a difference to the troops.
