He's a well spoken, young, photogenic, intelligent, and inspiriational politician the likes of which have not been seen for a long, long time. Barring a meltdown, there is an excellent chance he will someday be our first black president.
Unfortunately, at the moment he's also an unproven freshman senator with zero executive experience. Questions of style over substance will stick to him like ticks on a dog.
Which is what makes him such a great Vice Presidential candidate. His charisma will boost the ticket, and in four-to-eight years, he'll have the leadership experience and exposure to make him an uncontested shoo-in for the nomination. Young as he is, he can afford to wait, too (but will his looks?). Even he must realize this.
Which raises and interesting question... election tickets are often chosen for balance, with the VP compensating for the shortcomings of the President. Which would mean the best Batman to his Robin would be someone a bit older, inevitably less charismatic but with a ton of experience, presumably from a more conventional political history. Most importantly that means executive experience, which is to say NOT another senator. From that perspective, Clark is the best counterpart at the moment.
Of course, if the G-Man decides to run, that's our ticket right there.
Hmmm... Gobama... I smell a Zelda game tie-in.
