That's right. The United States of America has lost the war in Iraq. I personally find saying that extremely distasteful, but facts are facts. Here are the facts as I see them. US soldiers are dying by the truckload: http://news.yahoo.com/...
and it's only getting worse. Violence among Iraqis is up. Call it a Civil War if you want, but either way the US is powerless to stop it. The "Iraqi government" is a joke. They have no power. The elctions were a sham. The Iraqis that have the guns and bombs are the ones who have the power. WE LOST...
So, it's nice that the Iraq Report makes all these fabulous suggestions on the war's future. It's great that the President has his own ideas. But, everyone just seems to be in denial. The war is lost and there is nothing we can do to fix it. It's time to take our ball and go home. I understand that chaos is going to ensue when the US withdraws it's troops. But, there is noone who is going to help the US clean up it's mess. Not the UN, not the EU, noone. In my world, getting Syria and Iran involved = LOSING! Prolonging the inevitable just makes for more dead and maimed US soldiers.
My hope is that, since the US is now 0-2 in the last couple of wars, maybe in the future the citizens of this nation will not jump on a military solution to our problems. Obviously, the idea that we can just invade a country and impose our will on them is a bit outdated. Finally, I hope that we can get our troops out of harms way ASAP to avoid any more families having to spend the holidays mourning their loved ones.
