I am so mad that even though I just commented on this in someone else's diary, I have to rant more about this. I am so upset that the House budget reconciliation bill passed yesterday. It contains horrible cuts for the poor especially for Medicaid.
But I am most outraged because it did not get any front page mention here on DKos in the last few days - in time for people to call and email their reps. It was such a close vote 216-214 that I bet a little more attention could have changed the outcome. That's right WE could've changed the outcome. So what happened? Why wasn't there more outrage from Kossacks?
E.J. Dionne at the Washington Post reported
"Where's the Budget Outrage?"
Let's be clear: Anyone who votes for this fiscal mess will be standing for the bad old ways of doing business in Washington. Those who do so will have no claim to being "reformers."
So, people here, please explain to me how does an important vote like this get front page or other attention here? Do we care less about cuts in aid to the poor more than we care about preventing Alito on the SCOTUS? How come we don't see the Kos community up in arms that student loans will be costlier and therefore, less aid available. That there have been no increases in LIHEAP assistance while the cost of heating has more than doubled for many?
How do you get the Kos masses motivated when there is an important vote or issue? What should we have done differently to get attention to an important issue like this?
