I've moved. Further east this time, closer to Philadelphia. We'll see in May whether that means I'm a lone Republican in a sea of Democrats, or what.
I have a feeling that I am far enough north that I'm still in Republican country. My voter registration through the DOT went thru without a hitch. I just need to find the church that is my polling station.
Apparently my county, Carbon, was going to use AVS's voting machines but somehow they can't promise they'd be able to get all the required machines here in time. Diebold stepped up and promised they could at an extra 5k for the whole shebang. Great. Contrary to popular opinion, I had no problem with the older style paper ballots. I don't trust the vote counters to start with, but when you add in computers, it just seems easier to change a vote here and there. And now I am really suspicious, with Diebold supplying our machines. What really sucks is that there was to be an April 3rd demo of the machines but that may not happen now.
I'll be voting for Lynn Swann, not my first choice, but Rendell, he just rubs me the wrong way. The whole property tax reform debacle, just reeks of cronyism.
I'm 98% sure I'll vote against Rick Santorum. He's too something for me. I voted against Arlen Spector last election, because he was too something too. That 'something' is hard to describe. Both are registered Republicans, but in Arlen's case he seems to revert to more left leaning ways when it suits him. Rick is, I wouldn't say too conservative, well maybe I would. He needs to be more fiscally conservative and less socially conservative.
I admit I am not really educated on the other races in the State, but I have a few weeks to catch up. Like in past elections I'll probably vote against the incumbent, unless incumbent is working on his first term. Career politicians irk me.
My new bed gets delivered sometime today. For the past 4 months I've been sleeping on a Coleman air mattress, bought at Wal-mart. They're guaranteed to not leak for a year. 6 weeks into sleeping on the first one, I woke up on the floor, with a sore back. I had lost my receipt, so I bought a new one. Placed it on top of the old one, which held air for a little bit and enjoyed 18 inches of sleeping on air. Last week I was tired of having a sore shoulder, because the beds moved away from the wall and I ended up lying in a hole and I bought a queen sized bed. Wednesday of this week the second mattress started to lose air. And today I woke up on the floor. I still have the receipt for the second bed, so I'll get a replacement in case I ever have guests over and they don't wanna share my bed.
Being new to the area, I am kind of at a loss for places to find like-minded, intelligent, friendly women. Bars are so, well they're nice when you're 23, but the scene gets old 10years on.
