America's news stations continue their pathetic rightward drift with this additional example of "equivalency" on reporting.
Now, Louisiana's Governor Blanco is being accused of being "asleep at the switch", just like Dubya and Chertoff. WCBS-880 News radio broadcast this morning had their chirpy female anchor report that Governor Blanco too was
"asleep at the switch" during the Hurricane Katrina disaster. The audio this supposed "news" station then broadcast was Governor Blanco reporting on the condition of the levees as she must have then known them. Of course, the "story" WCBS-880 News was pushing was that the levees had in fact been breeched several hours before. I suppose that they expected, nay demanded, that Governor Blanco be responsible for visiting every inch of the levees simultaneously during the hurrican to ensure that the reporting was accurate.
This was just another example of biased reporting trying to craft equivalency where none exists. The audio the radio network ran never showed that Blanco had failed in policy or any other role for which the Governor might be responsible. Rather, they tried to show that she was guilty of passing along inaccurate information to demonstrate that she was unfit for her job.
Biased reporting like this needs to be smacked down as quickly and as vigorously as possible. Soon, we all know the Republicans will be running this meme to show how Dear Leader really isn't so bad, incompetent, ineffectual, and feckless. Perhaps wCBS-880 might like to contacted to be informed on the public's appreciation for the their abuse of our airwaves?
