Global Warming - A National Security Risk (podcast)
This is a great new podcast by Wes Clark who discusses a synopsis of the scientific evidence regarding global warming and climate change. It's based on the consensus views of leading climatologists around the world; all of whom have advocated for more aggressive action by our leaders in Washington. Clark further explains its important national security implications; and why the world community, its leaders and each of us, must work together to address these issues, today'; and implement a national and global strategy within the next few years.

UPDATE: Some key points that he outlined:
A. Causes of Global warming.
- Atmospheric Carbon levels have risen in past 50 years.
- In 1957, International Geophysical Union Conference determined that Carbon in the air has increased from 280ppm in 1957 to 375ppm, today.
B. Clark outlines 3 scenarios: (from 'relatively' less to worst impact):
1. Gradual Global Warming in US
- Average global temperature will rise 9Fover next 95 years)
2. Sea Level Rise/Cooling in NW Europe
- Polar Ice Sheet/Glacier Melting leads to up to 20ft rise in level.
- Shutdown of Atlantic Ocean's Conveyer Belt (Gulf Stream)
3. Methane Release in Artic Tundra
- methane can be released it large amounts.
- methane is highly poisonous, spontaneously combustible, ignition would consume huge amount of O2.
C. Solutions:
- Finding alternative/renewable energy sources that are not carbon-based.
- Find ways to better dipsose of Carbon.
D. Individual Actions:
- Get political leaders engaged
- Actively discuss the issues (esp geopolical implications)
