Maybe this is a waste of a diary, but I can't help sharing my delight over the thought of a Gore candidicy in 2008. And the only thing that would make that better: putting Feingold in the second slot.
Maybe it's just fantasy, but I think Gore has the best chance to win the nomination of all the known candidates. He's got the mainstream appeal, due to his national exposure, and the progressive street-cred he needs. After all, he endorsed Howard Dean early and enthusiastically last time. He also has the ability to raise money and run a robust campaign.
Hillary's rumored candidacy is nothing more than a right-winger's dream as far I'm concerned, which leaves a strong, but certainly less well-known, group of competitors for the nomination.
So who would be the best running mate match for Gore? Someone from the mid-west. Someone who voted correctly on the war. Someone not afraid to speak truth to power. In other words: Russ Feingold.
Am I just dreaming here? Is it really possible?
