David Brooks was the temp worker 'host' and did a half hour rambling roundtable about the political scene. Pundit pap. 'Guests' were Andrew Sullivan, David Frum (now with AEI), and Bruce Reed (DLC).
Kos and CTG come up in the last five minutes (the segment fills a half hour) in a kind of random association game about the Democrats. David Frum admits to having read it- but since there isn't much ideological stuff in CTG or a Party line, he shakes it off as unimportant. Sullivan sort of corrects him on that.
Basically they see Republicans crashing out of power but delusively think there's going to be some form of soft landing for the Bush Presidency.
Brooks is a delusional weenie and Sullivan is giving his usual have the cake and eat it too political shtick. Reed is just sad.
I hadn't seen much of David Frum before, but the man is a headcase. He really outlined- without intending to- that Republican "national security" is at bottom all about giving paranoiacs (like himself) what they desire these days. Then he went on and on with how Democrats "have no ideas"...as if somehow Democrats were a cult like his own team, unable to function without A Big Idea. Earth to David Frum: there's a reason the word 'ideology' is closely related to the word 'idiot'.
The insanity of the foursome was a fright to behold. Andy Sullivan was the adult of the bunch- scary, eh?
