I am disgusted by our secret prisons and frightened that our government is holding folks incommunicado.

A simple google search shows the secret prisons were a topic in June 2005 and yet Dana got the Pulitzer for her November 2005 story.

William Schulz, executive director of Amnesty's Washington-based branch, speaking on "Fox News Sunday," defended the human rights group's recent criticism of U.S. treatment of detainees at the naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
"The U.S. is maintaining an archipelago of prisons around the world, many of them secret prisons, into which people are being literally disappeared, held in indefinite, incommunicado detention without access to lawyers or a judicial system or to their families," Schulz said.
armando did a recent diary on secret prisons here

on may 2, 2006:
The EU foreign policy chief told a special committee Tuesday he had no information that CIA agents interrogated al-Qaida suspects at secret prisons in Europe and operated flights over European territory.
That is funny where the january report for the council of Europe said:
On the other hand, it has been proved (and in fact never denied), that individuals have been abducted, deprived of their liberty and all rights, and transported to different destinations in Europe, to be handed over to countries in which they have suffered degrading treatment and torture.

Both men were captured in Pakistan -- Binalshibh four years ago and Mohammed a year later -- and are being held in secret prisons outside the United States.
"That has been the irony of the Moussaoui case from the beginning. We have prosecuted a marginal character who appeared unmoored from reality, while the real planners of the crime will not be brought before justice in the United States," Greenberger said.

is a site that is curious in that our conservative friends do not doubt the existence of secret prisons and are apparently not bothered by folks being held incommunicado by the cia and instead think the story was old news not worthy of a Pulitzer.
It scares me that the cia has it own drones that can track a car and blow it up but that is not an assassination and that it owns private airlines so it can transport detainees and drugs and guns and wmds without embarassing questions of law and decency. The conservatives love we our own KGB to punish and stop those nasty, ewww, nasty bad guys.
That conservative site above shows the whistle about secret prisons was blown way back in 2002 and in 2005 by the amnesty international and so why are the talk of treason for revealing secrets today?
That site quotes several times that the gloves came off after 911 and we don't just need to put the gloves back on the cia folks, we need to put a leash on them and hit them in the nose with a rolled up newspaper, the wapo will work fine.
The CIA folks are having too much fun in the GWOT just like the guards in Iraq and the guards at gitmo and the guards in Afghanistan.
I was pleased the jury found that insane minor al-queda guy was just a minor al-queda guy and gave him life in prison.
2 of the actual 911 planners have been tortured to such an extent that they will never have a criminal trial.
267 detainees have been released from gitmo. Oops and sorry guys, gee, I guess you really did not have anything to tell us under interrogation. Oops and sorry about that, honest. We were upset and scared about 911 and so it was a crime of passion type thing. Better that 300 innocent foreigners are detained and interrogated for years and years than for one American to possibly be injured by a terrorist attack. We do not give a shit if the citizen is attacked by disease or an accident or cancer and so we do not have national healthcare, but we care a lot if they are injured by a terrorist. Zillions for violence and defense and hehe zilch for national healthcare. oops ranting, better stop here
