Right now, we need leaders, we don't need martyrs. The democratic party is struggling because too many people want too much too fast. This is tearing us apart.
What Markos has realized is that we need someone with vision and leadership skills more than we need someone who embodies all of our ideals fully. This diary suggests that Markos and Warner are getting "too cozy" and that perhaps it has some quid pro quo action: Warner supports our convention, pays for huge parties, and we support him in return--he makes it seem like there is something sinister going on here. While I believe that the diarist had good intentions, I think it's an overly cynical stance.

We need someone who will work for us, and Warner is trying to show us that he will. We need someone who will stand up for us, and I believe that by being the first big-name politician to accept an invitation to YearlyKos, he has shown that he will.
Warner is a good man, and a strong politician, because he has a coherent set of values. They may not line up with each and every one of ours, but they are on the right track. Right now, we need to get our nation back on track. That is the number 1 priority, and I think Warner can do it.
I'm not endorsing Warner, and I'm not saying we shouldn't look around for the best candidate. But I don't think it's appropriately respectful of either Markos or Warner to suggest that there is something insidious going on between them, or that Warner is "buttering us up", as the diarist suggests. He is showing us that he is interested in us. He is interested in a partnership with us.
I think we can all agree that wooing a partner is not always wrong.
