It's late Saturday night and this falls into consumer politics so I just figured I'd share.
I've just about had all I can take of these "consumer groups" pressuring fast food restaurants to change their menus around!!!!!
I'm very health conscious and my diet is low-fat/low-carb (protein shakes, lots of water) bike almost daily and work out.
But, I like my fast food every once in awhile. I like it greasy and gooey and yummy and delicious. Now we have some consumer group suing fast food places as if they have nothing better to do.
It all started when I went to
Wendy's a few weeks ago. I ordered a Crispy Chicken, baked potato and a Coke. I asked for EVERYTHING on the potato.
I open up the bag (got it to-go) to make sure everything was there, and I see a dixie-cup-like packet that said "fat free sour cream." Well, I wanted REAL sour cream. So I kindly asked the woman behind her register if I could have REAL sour cream.
She replied, "sorry, we only have the fat free yogurt sour cream."
In response I asked, "are you out of the REAL sour cream, or do you just not have any more on this store?"
She said she's only seen the "fat free" stuff, but would ask her manager.
Her manager came over and said, "yeah, Wendy's only serves fat free sour cream. It's part of a healthier menu. We'll also be discontinue "BIGGIE Fries" in a few months.
Are they fucking kidding?
I kindly thanked the man for the information and continued to walk away in amazement.
Now, this week, I read that a consumer group is suing Kentucky Fried Chicken because of the oil they use:
A class action lawsuit aiming to eliminate the use of trans-fat laden frying oil has targeted Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest filed the suit with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia asking that KFC either stop using the partially hydrated oil, which the non-profit company says kills 50,000 Americans annually, or use signs to warn customers of the food's high trans-fat content.

Give me a fucking break. Do you know what KFC cooked in regular oil will taste like? CRAP! There's a reason Mcdonald's won't cook their fries in regular oil and neither will KFC. It will taste totally different. The food at room tempature will be soggier and greasier and take on a whole new taste. Now these Zealots want to take the baked goods out of Starbucks:
The Center for Science in the Public Interest said it is planning to campaign against the global cafe chain because of the increased risk of obesity, heart disease and cancer associated with high-calorie, high-fat products it sells.

LEAVE MY FAST FOOD ALONE!
If people don't want to eat it, then don't fucking buy it.
This is America and let me have my FRIED McD's apple pie. My REAL sour CREAM. My BIGGIE FRIES!!!! My GREASY Kentucky Fried Chicken! My STARBUCKS baked goods.
