Our intrepid Secretary of State took a break out of her busy schedule today to play a piano recital at a conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It aint shoe shopping but Ferrragamo must not have a Malaysian location. She briefly fielded questions afterwards and when asked about Rome and, in particular, the United States being the lone holdout in asking for a complete ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, she said the following:
"Every time there is a broken ceasefire, people die and there is destruction and misery."
follow me below the fold for my take on this ridiculous statement...
"Every time there is a broken ceasefire, people die and there is destruction and misery."
Dr. Rice, do you mean, destruction and misery like, oh I don't know, this?
Wouldn't it better suit us to get the 2 sides to stop firing rockets at each other and killing each others' civilians first and foremost and then worry about maintaining the peace?
God forbid Dr. Rice actually have to do her fucking job for a change and ask our allies (and maybe even, gasp, our enemies) for something. This misadministration doesn't do diplomacy though. Death and destruction Dr. Rice? You mean like this?
or perhaps, this?
You mean that hasn't been the goal of your administration all along? You sure could have fooled me after the execution in Iraq.
It's time for someone to make these asshats understand that diplomacy is not a sign of weakness! Quite the contrary, diplomacy is ONLY excercised from a position of strength. Sadly, however, there isn't any money or hegemony in diplomacy. What the fuck do these fools know of death and destruction? Not a single one of them has ever served in a forward area (& Dr. Rice is no exception to that rule). Death and destruction Dr. Rice? Like, oh, this?
Bottom Line: Maybe our Secretary of State should be concentrating on stopping the death and destruction going on on her watch (& perpetrated primarily by one of our closest allies) rather than on contemplating "what ifs" in between sonatas and concertos.
