for the purpose of attacking a Democratic candidate.
Ok, I don't get this at all. Here in Oklahoma, we had a Democratic candidate for State Senate (Drew Dugan) viscously attack another Democratic candidate Andrew Rice. It apparently was planned well in advance, as Dugan laid low until just days before the primary at which time he sent out horrific flyers and made inflammatory phone calls to constituents.
From the
Daily Kos diary by MrLiberal you will read all the details. We could expect this:
You see, over the weekend a marketing firm called RDI Marketing Services in Cincinnati, Ohio called (some live, some not) hundreds of OKC Democrats all day, telling them the exact same b.s. as the Dugan mailer.
and
RDI is well-funded by the Republican Party, which has given this firm between $250,000 and $350,000 a year for services rendered, according to the DCCC in 2004.
and
RDI also helped to attack John Kerry in the Minnesota Caucuses in 2004.
We've grown to expect this level of evilness from Rovian Republicans HOWEVER -- It was reported on the local blog, demookie that the "pro-terrorist" flyers were done by Carrier Marshall and Associates. But why would Carrier Marshall who bill themselves as a Democratic political advertising and consulting firm so unashamedly attack another Democrat? I called them to ask if they were responsible for the flyer and the young rude woman eventually admitted that indeed they were responsible. I just went to their website and this is all it turns up: Carrier Marshall. No mention of "Democratic ..." anything here. I wonder when they dropped that? Maybe after Dugan's wonderful campaign?
Another nugget; Hate Gone Wild Dugan Style .
Regarding Drew Dugan, according to the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce website, Dugan serves as their Director of Education & Workforce Development. They have to have known he was running, don't you think? They have to have known what he was going to do, don't you think? How can you run an inflammatory race without telling your employer? So, why would the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce be willing to allow an employee to humiliate Oklahoma in front of the whole country, with this type of smear campaign? We already have enough problems: (here and here and here and here and here here. Oh well, you get my drift. I love Oklahoma. I hate our stupid politicians.
Please, please, can't we have some new ones?
