The sectarian violence in Iraq has very obviously turned a corner, with the recent news of Shiite's rampaging a Sunni neighborhood killing women and children. It's time for Democrats to get serious. SERIOUSLY! This is what needs to happen--- follow me below the fold.
Russert: Senator/Congressman/Official/Pundit (Democrat), it seems the Democrats are a lame-duck party with no ideas on how to fix the war in Iraq. Care to give your mea culpa before you're horribly embarrassed in the upcoming election?
Democrat: Tim, Democrats have a lot of ideas on how to end the Iraq Occupation, unlike the Republicans who have proudly marched blindly toward defeat since the President declared the mission accomplished. Rep. Murtha has suggested sending a limited amount of troops to neighboring countries to encourage the Iraqi government to take responsibility for the stabilization of their new democracy. Senator Kerry offered up a withdrawal date and Senator Levin wrote a bill supporting a flexible redeployment of troops. Until we can have an honest discussion between both parties about what steps to take, we won't know which of these plans would work best and so I urge my Republican colleagues to get serious about finding a solution to this three year debacle. Unfortunately, the Republicans are neglecting this responsibility, just the way they neglected the victims of Hurricane Katrina. That is why it is important for everyone to get out to the polls this fall and vote Democrat. With a Democratic House and Senate, Congress can hold the Bush Administration accountable for the missteps it has taken in the years following the end of the Iraq War.
Russert: Touche, Dem-face.
