According to the WaPo, the Republicans are trying to reframe Iraq. [http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.)... "I think we undersold how hard the war would be," he told reporters this week. "I think we oversold how easy it would be to create democracy. I think we missed by a mile how much it would cost to rebuild Iraq."
Oh really???
"I think we undersold how hard the war would be,"
Would that be when Rumsfeld said "It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months."???
"I think we oversold how easy it would be to create democracy.
Would that be when Cheney said "my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators. . . . I think it will go relatively quickly, . . . (in) weeks rather than months."???
I think we missed by a mile how much it would cost to rebuild Iraq.
Would that be when Paul Wolfowitz said:
"There's a lot of money to pay for this that doesn't have to be U.S. taxpayer money, and it starts with the assets of the Iraqi people...and on a rough recollection, the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years...We're dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon."
How about these other statements?
Kenneth Adelman, a Reagan administration official who serves on a Pentagon advisory board, said that the war would be "a cakewalk."
Richard Perle, who once chaired that board predicted that support for Saddam, even within the Iraqi military, would "collapse after the first whiff of gunpowder."
Why do we let the Republicans get away with saying they are the only party that can run this war? They haven't demonstrated that they have any idea what to do. The Democrats couldn't possibly do a worse job than the R's have done.
And now the R's are backpedaling as fast as they can. Why? Because they recognize that Americans have finally begun to wake up and smell the bullshit. Surely our fellow citizens are not so stupid that they will let the R's get away with this again.
In the infamous words on our semi-literate leader, "Fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."
In the better phrased words of Lincoln, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time." I sure hope that's true. I'm afraid that you can fool 25% of the people all of the time, but I hope that's all.
