Time for a rant! I just damn well don't believe what is the sense of this site and us as 'participants'!
I'm skimming through the diaries...and there are a number on Katrina this morning. Several have 4-10 comments. Some have only 1 or 2.
- Are we paying attention?
- Are we any better than Bushco in ignoring what we don't want to deal with?
- Are we doing anything to help with the rebuilding of LA, MS, or AL?
Yep - let's talk about CT-Sen and Joe getting uninvited to a parade or let's talk about impeachment when we don't even have a majority in the house.
Talk about Katrina and what is left undone...nope...not gonna happen.
So - I'm going to use my diary a day to do a mini-diary rescue:
One Year Later-In the Shadow of the Storm is a personal story of what it's like a year later by lilorphant.
Katrina Anniversay (Katrina Blog Project) a diary about the anger, the frustration, the corporate shenanigans and more by NOLAWitch
KATRINA: What We Have to Do (a manifesto) a call to action by Progressive South.
First Anniversary of Katrina Day a news recap and some of the infamous actions that occurred a year ago by Vyan.
Add any others that you find in the comments...let's make sure that we as progressives don't let Katrina a year later disappear in the muck left behind by Bushco!
[UPDATE 1:]
Playing Hard Ball: The Katrina Edition, Cancun vs New Orleans a comparison of recovery - by pinche tejano!
A Light in the Storm by maw150 - about people that took action and are still acting!
[UPDATE 2:]
There are some marvellous links in the comments. Read through and click on those diaries as well. Thanks to all who are adding to this diary rescue. Great writers and amazing personal experiences that are worth the read.
Go read the diaries and recommend...
