I urge everyone to
read & recommend the following diary by
deepsouthdoug, as it provides superb perspective as to where tonight's magnificent special comment by Mr. Olbermann fits into the history of brave moments in journalism.
An excerpt from deepsouthdoug's diary:
Olbermann speaks from a far more vulnerable platform [than did Murrow or Cronkite], which makes his commentary even more remarkable. Olbermann's criticism of Bush was the most direct criticism of a President EVER delivered on TV by a broadcaster. Because Keith Olbermann made these commentaries he has achieved greatness, and he has also achieved journalistic immortality as long as there is a free United States of America. Not that Keith had any choice. The criminal activities of Bush and his thugs thrust greatness upon him.
I don't think I've ever heard it said better than Keith said it tonight. And I think that the diary I've referred to is valuable and I want to see it on the recommended list for all to read! And with that, good night, and good luck.
