With
900 screener copies
floating around out there, it's likely that
there's a Kossack who has a copy or has access to one.
What to do then? Don't watch it - rip it and let us watch it.
Given the length of the movie, this is not a job for YouTube, it's a
job for
BitTorrent.
So here's a guide to how to take your copy and make it available to anyone
with a high-speed connection.
Once the movie makes into a big bittorrent tracker, it won't matter if they
try to stop it - it will spread like wildfire.
And then we'll all be able to pick through it with a fine-toothed comb
and document the atrocities before it's shown on TV.
Below are the instructions - use them yourself or send them to a friend.
You have several options.
Option 1 - give the DVDs to an expert.
This option is the easiest if you know someone who's a bittorrent/dvd ripping
expert.
An expert is someone's who's released torrents before on a public tracker.
They'll know the various sites, like demonoid, torrentbox, etc.
They'll rip the movie for you and upload it to one of the public trackers
for fast and furious distribution.
Option 2 - Copy the DVDs and give them to expert(s).
This is an even better option if you have the capability to copy the DVD.
First see if the DVD will fit onto a DVD-R.
Some commercial DVDs will fit, others won't.
If it fits, then you can just image and copy the DVD to a set of DVD-Rs
and hand them (or courier) them off to your expert.
If they don't fit directly, then
DVD Shrink is a free and
popular tool that will help.
It will help you discard useless data like extra features to fit the movie
onto regular DVD-Rs.
Option 3 - Compress it yourself.
Most movies are distributed on bittorrent in a compressed file format
like XVid/DiVX, because the files are a lot smaller and faster
to download ... especially for a long movie like "Path to 9/11".
You can rip and compress the movie yourself, making it easier to upload
and/or copy to a DVD-R for a friend/expert.
I recommend
Auto Gordian Knot
if you're on a PC
or
HandBrake for Mac OS X / Linux.
Option 4 - Make your own torrent and seed it.
This is the ultimate option.
Compress the movie yourself as per the previous step and then
use
Azureus
or some other tool to make the torrent.
Then find a public tracker and go to it.
Here's a
pretty good guide
and
here's another one.
It's easy and fun way to stick it to the man.
If you know where there's a copy, get to it and fast.
If you know someone, send them these instructions.
