I'm sick of us. We complain, we whine. We want a withdrawal. We want representative government.
But we're cowed.
We won't pick up the freakin' phone and dial our Senator's number, "it won't matter. It's never mattered before," we think.
And I'm here to tell you, if that's you I'm describing, you're no better then the fox-watching voters who pulled the lever for Bush in 2000 & 2004. You've abandoned your responsibility as a citizen.
I've been asking people who complain about Iraq and the Republican's inability to vote for withdrawal, "Have you called?" Here's a classic example, on kos's front-page story, "Trying to Unload Bush."
Everyone's got an reason not to call:
- it never changed anything before.
- I don't have the time to disinfect my phone after.
- I don't want to take up smoking again.
- insert excuse here.
NEWS FLASH:
American's overwhelmingly dissapprove of this war. Americans want out.
You're senator knows that; but he/she doesnt know if that's "responding to the polls out" or "I'm willing to throw you (and the Republican party) overboard if you don't take responsiblity for this out."
Tell your senator's "IT'S TIME TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MESS YOU'VE CREATED."
Get on the freakin' phone. Let 'em know we mean business. Ask you kids to call, you spouse to call, your boss to call, you neighbor to call.
Just for the remainder of the day, be a nuisance. Act like your voice counts.
Because this once, it just might.
