The day you hear that on the morning news, I'll eat my hat. But on a nearly daily basis I hear "Are the Democratic candidates leaning too far left?" MSM claims Democrats are bending over backwards to please the loony left.
What? Show of hands, who feels pandered to? Anyone? Bueller?
Why is there so much concern from the "liberal media" that the Democrats may be (gasp!) expressing Democratic ideals, when there's little to no corresponding concern that the right is too right to attract the middle.
Why? Because through Fox and other media outlets, Republicans have established the normal right-wing as increasingly centrist. They've moved the center so far right that only true white-sheeted fanatics are considered extreme right wing.
So the Democratic side is either portrayed as "too far left and pandering to the bloggers and other weirdos" or wishy-washy "has no ideas" pandering to the right-wing center.
On a side note relevant to how Democrats are portrayed and portray themselves, what was the Clinton team thinking with that Sopranos parody? Ok, score one for trying to seem hip with popular culture. But to invite comparisons between yourself as a Presidential candidate and a crime boss seems ill-conceived at best. I'll refuse to discuss her using a yowling wet cat...er, Celine Dion for her campaign song. Shudder.
