Garden Neighbor posted this quote from Pat Tiberi (R-OH), who recently returned from a "sight-seeing" tour in always fabulous Iraq and had this to say:
It is impossible to estimate a timetable for complete withdrawal from Iraq, but decisions on when to leave should be decided by military leaders, not politicians.
Nice way to wash your hands of this mess, Congressman.
It isn't enough that the US military has been asked to fight a pointless war (without proper body armor, equipment, or rest, I might addd).
But you and your idiot cronies also expect them to:
- Rebuild the country
- Referee a civil war between the Shia and Sunni
- Protect corrupt corporate contractors
- Prop up a thankless and hopeless government
In fact, our military is already doing the work of the Iraqi government by carrying out many municpal functions by proxy, since the Iraqi parliament is two parts corrupt and ten parts inept.
But, according to you, that's not enough. I guess you want them to do work the work of OUR elected leaders as well. You expect them to do your job.
You expect THEM to END the war that you rushed to start. (And no doubt will blame too.) Nice.
If you expect them to do your job, Pat, will you at least have the decency to forward them your paycheck?
At least then maybe they can afford to get the protection you voted to deny them.
UPDATE: You would think for someone who wants the military to do everything that he would at least support them a little more.
