(Original planned title: Restore my f*&^ing Mojo, Kos!)
WTF?!?!?!
It has happened again. Lots of positive comments with 201 recommends and not a single Troll rating over two days, yet my TU went away after posting in the diary of a popular member on Saturday night.
Okay, I'm a marginal TU but it came back Saturday morning after posting to Frankenoid's Garden Blogging. From Friday night until Sunday morning I made 18 comments and garnered 201 recommends and no troll ratings. 99 of the recommends were outside of the diary in question and normally would have kept my TU for 2 or 3 days of lurking. The 101 recommends in OPOL's latest diary seem to have reversed my status.
Go below the fold for more:
From the dKosopedia:
One suggestion for both mojo and karma is that ratings be reversible so that from a given user's perspective, downgraded comments by someone they personally distrust or disregard are considered upgraded, and upgraded comments are considered downgraded. That is, there would be an option to treat negative karma and negative mojo as being positive, either per user or per the entire service.
So the question is "Is OPOL being blacklisted" by the TU algorithm? It would certainly seem so.
It happened once before but I figured that was just a coincidence. After all, I'm usually just a few recommends from gaining or losing TU. This time though, the recommends had really piled up. Over 200 in less than 48 hours. My TU came back after the first 50 or so. Later, with a highly placed comment in OPOL's latest diary: Okay, Now I Get It my TU went away instead of benefiting from over 100 recommends.
I know that the TU algorithm is a secret, but it shouldn't create negative ratings from positive ones. It doesn't seem fair to zing commenters for commenting on diaries... even if the diarist is a proponent of "impeachment porn" according to Kos.
Anyone else experience "Negative Mojo?"
Update: ct says it isn't so. That's good enough for me.
