Woke up early this morning, the dogs demanded it. Hard to argue with 350 lbs of fur, spread along 12 paws.
Finding no news, no movies, not even bad porn, I turned to the old reliable, CSPAN. I soon wished I had found some bad porn. Much more honorable, ethical and moral.
There they were, Pelosi, Schumer, Emanuel, Hoyer, patting each other on the back, claiming that this congress was just the best thing since sliced bread. They were SO productive. They were SO brilliant. They were SO progressive.
So, what were their incredibly successful legislative victories? Energy and minimum wage.
That's right. The fact that car makers will have to meet EXISTING MILEAGE STANDARDS FROM JAPAN AND EUROPE just 12 years from now, well, that is just the most incredible, forceful, insightful, and brilliant POS, hard as a banana peel, piece of legislation.
Solar credits? Forget it. Renewables? Naw. Wind tax breaks? Are you kidding?
To take credit for this POS bill and claim that this is a "new horizon, a brand new world for our energy future and independence" (I swear, that came from Pelosi's own mouth), well, the word irony comes to mind.
Rahm, that smug SOB, followed up, explaining that it took 20 yrs to get to this point. Unfortunately, he refused to acknowledge that he and his DLCers put the stake in the heart of real energy reform, by joining with the GOP in barring truly progressive and inventive energy issues.
Oh, they did ask that people consider more efficient light bulbs. rah! be still my heart.
Minimum wage? Anyone else recall the price we paid for that bill? Don't let me get started on these spineless, shit for brain, - - - no, I best stop there.
IRAQ? Bush wins.
FISA? Bush wins.
Omnibus budget? Bush wins.
Watching Pelosi brag about a unbelievably successful congress was enough to make my teeth grind. Unbelievable, yes, Successful? Just what anti-psychotic meds is she taking? She should increase the dosage.
When HUFF calls the Dems on it, and accuses the D's of "limping out" of DC, I call HUFF out for being too kind.

This set of Democratic leaders is the most spineless, rudderless, ridiculous, impotent, castrated, mindless group of Bush apologists I never could have imagined. That photo on Huff says it all. Proud Nancy, Steny and Harry on one side. And troops suffering in Iraq on the other.
There is one word that truly encapsulates my feelings about this congress:
bastards.
I am sure you can come up with something better.
