in the upcoming 2008 Presidential election.
I would think that most of us here share many of the same concerns for our country. That much seems to be a given. But, what are those issues that are of most concern to you and why? And, what do you feel are the issues that you think the US has the best chance to remedy?
Below is a list of issues that I feel need to be addressed:
US hegemony across the globe.
US involvement in the Middle East.
The Palestinian/Israeli conflict.
Global warming and the effort to combat it.
Primary education - K-12.
Higher education and it's affordability.
Medicare and it's maintenance.
Social Security and the babyboomers.
The rising costs of health care.
Capitalism and it's effects on local populations.
I bring this topic up for your discussion so that we, the users at DailyKos, can debate what issues are of most importance to each of us individually and to our country as a whole.
Undoubtedly, there will be some crossover with certain topics that I've lised above and within the poll below. But, barring that, please indicate which topics you feel need to be addressed, sooner rather than later.
I feel that summarizing what is most important to you, an an individual DailyKos user, would better serve the entirety of users at DailyKos by allowing each user to better understand your individual positions in light of the upcoming election.
I've purposely made some of the poll answers vague, in order for you to further discuss your position on the particular issue you feel is most important.
Please answer the poll I've created, as well, since it is the best barometer to indicate where you stand among your fellow DailyKos users. And, if a topic you feel is important is not listed among the selections within the poll, please feel free to add it within your comments and open the discussion on those issues that are of value to you.
Best regards,
Casey
