Associated Press - U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq at 3,217
As of Sunday, March 18, 2007, at least 3,217 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,581 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.
What that number doesn't include:
- More than 250 military fatalities from 17 other nations.
- More than 24,000 American wounded in action.
- Iraqi civilian fatalities ranging from a low of 59-65,000 (Iraq Body Count project) to a high of over 600,000 (The Lancet).

Not to mention the $200 million per day to fund the war, the cost to treat our wounded and disabled (a job we're doing so well at so far), families and minds destroyed forever, the total and complete loss of respect for the United States throughout the globe...
Will we ever know the true cost of Iraq?
