As Al Gore says in An Inconvenient Truth, bringing hope to those dispirited about the challenges facing us in addressing the Global Climate Crisis:
Political Will is a Renewable Resource.
I'd like to get some of your thoughts and inspiration around the tools of renewal: how do blogs, vlogs, petitions, podcasts, bulletin boards, email lists and forwards, chat, Content-Management Systems (CMS), and even Twitter help us communicate, organize, inspire, and fight rumor, despair, and malicious campaigns.
Tomorrow evening Tonight (Tuesday) I'm facilitating a free discussion in downtown San Francisco (y'all are invited) on this topic, and I'd like to start the conversation here: What are you learning, doing, communicating or publishing about the Global Climate Crisis, and what tools are effective for doing it?
We're facing an unprecedented global emergency, but we have a powerful assemblage of tools for addressing it, for building our own peer-to-peer ad hoc networks and not waiting around for the media or our government to admit it.
The Social Media Club ('SMC'), where I'm speaking, is organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and promoting media literacy around the emerging area of Social Media.
The San Francisco gathering will be at CNET offices on Second Street between Howard and Folsom, a short walk from Montgomery BART on Market or the TransBay Terminal. The MUNI 15 line stops out front.
Some Examples
I'll fill in this section with examples from my own life, but I need to get this post up first so it can get linked! Stay tuned.
